...when it doesn't tally with their views, but will quote an article from the same source as proof, if it backs up their view?

This is called denial, they say it because it really affects them but they don't want anyone to know the truth.

I beleive that you can never really have an opinion on any news article until all the facts have been released. Take the Suffolk murders for example. All the newspapers are fighting for headlines so some elaboration on the truth or some event which happened way back in a suspects past will be printed. You can already see the reaction of the papers/news channels revelaing the names of the two men in custody. Everyone has an opinion on which man did it. Yet no proof has been given or charges brought. I witnessed on here the other day a bloke adamant that Tom Stephens hadn't commited the murder because he'd seen his myspace page. Go figure!!! As I said you can never truly have an opinion until you know all the facts and that is rarely the case when you concentrate solely on what the media has to say.

It's called being gullible and having a closed mind.

People throw around words like 'conspiracy' and 'propaganda' because they can't look at conflicting facts and apply critical thinking & logic.

Some people simply refuse to look at differing versions of events to the one they're spoon fed. People that simply reject alternative news articles without even looking at them are just fools.

That's why politicians can lie so easily. They know that only 15 to 20% of the nation has the intelligence to seek the facts and form an opinion. The other 80 to 85% absorb someone else’s opinion delivered in a tabloid or a TV story.

because alot of tabloid stories are sensationalist and told from only one point of view you don't get to make an objective descision on al the evidence.

The papers do try to influence you with propaganda- i'm sure there must be many backhanders taking place so a paper will plug a certain item.

Can you remeber anthea turners wedding pics for ok/helo where she was eating the flake?

it's the same in tv many presenters have been told off for pulling things.

Because some people refuse to admit when they are wrong! Many bad things happen in this world because people will only choose to believe what they want to believe. Everybody should look at both sides and do some research before going into a hissy fit.

Because everyone has their own opinion, you can't change someones opinion of news; if an article backs up the opinion you have then you feel as though you're glad you're not the only one who see's things that way.

I was always taught that the only reports you can honestly believe are TV reports. Literature can be swayed with opinions. TV reporters are required to tell it like it is. Freedom of the press is just that free to write what you feel. It's called fiction.

People make up their minds and don't let any facts get in the way of their opinion. Liberals and Conservative are both equally guilty.

We all have our own opinions and so we would like to back them up with facts. Sometimes the facts get a bit shady
