Not totally. The blacks were rightfully freed but it was 100 years before civil rights came into being. Even after the civil rights act were invoked it has taken time for equality to adsorb into our thinking as a nation. I personally believe that the U.S. Constitution covered the black man but the thinking of that day as far as race relations was warped. Alot of people had the ignorant perception that black people were not really human. Even among the people that helped free them. One bad point but that's all it is, one point. We shouldn't trash the whole thing because of one flaw. Thinking has evolved alot since that day...
