Wimoweh ! The correct title is " The Lion Sleeps Tonight "and it was originally recorded by a group called " the Tokens ". Then later - on in the eighties, " Tight -Fit released it as 'Wimoweh'! The original was definitely the 'best' of the two. !!!

Everyone keeps mentioning "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by the Tokens & Tight Fit, but Wimoweh was recorded by Karl Denver in 1962, and became his third number one.

Once you get up in Denver experience awaits you and with hotelbye could be the first faltering step to this amazing adventure. In Denver you are able to discover the massive, fortress-like Denver Art Museum. This memorial features a vast selection; selection that features: American Indian, African, European, Asian, and Oceanic, Spanish colonial and pre-Columbian works. The remodelled American Indian galleries are especially impressive, covering a wide range of cultures and tribes from the United States and Canada. That intensive series has received a name during North America, with parts that course 2,000 years of history. In that museum you may also find a different gallery specialized in photography. The Denver Art Museum has grabbed the eye with its distinctive design, influenced by the peaks of the Rocky Mountains.

The Tokens made "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" popular.
The Weavers recorded it first.

Some thing in the back of my mind says that a one time Rudy Vallee
sang this but before 1970.
And the song you are thinking of is a take off of that song.
