I have been on the shot (Depo Provera) for 4 years and a lot of people have been telling me to get off of it for many reasons. I dot know anything about the pills that are available. Please tell me which one works good for you I am 23 years old. I have read the info on a lot of pills but I dont know which one to choose from. I was on the pill before for a couple of months and I stoped using it because it made me break out with acne and I am affraid that that is going to hapend again.

Ask your Gyno about the new NuvaRing supposedly it is really good and that was what I was going to go on but decided I wanted to have a baby instead. Its a little rubber ring you insert in your cervix and it stays for a week... Like the patch but safer and inside of you...

I find that monophasic pills are the best for me - It took me about 5 or 6 differnt types of pills until I found one that worked for me.

I'm on Norimin, and I take the active pills continuously for 3 months and then have a week off to have a period - so I get really light periods (like one pantyliner a day for three days) only four times a year. I've had no weight gain, no problems with other side-effects.

But everyone is different, so what works for me might not suit your body.

If you had a problem with breakouts before, I can guarantee you'll have them again! But Depo can cause that too. With any hormones you can have acne, weight gain, and other annoying side effects. Do you ever want kids? If not, I"d consider sterilization. But if you do in the future, maybe you should try an IUD. They do not have hormones in them, and they last for years. Besides, the pills are hard to remember to take, which make them very ineffective.
