Racism and hatred have valid and valuable social functions. We may personally feel that they are deplorable and wish that we could change things (as I do), however, because they serve us in a functional manner racism and hatred are unlikely to be given up quickly or easily.
Our societies and cultures continue to promote racism and hatred because they need to redirect internal tensions outward away from the members of our own groups. By making people who do not belong to our own group a target of hatred and prejudice we help the hostile members of our group to sublimate their anger and hostility by directing it towards 'safe' targets outside of our group. This ensures more peace within our group even though it means more hostility between our group and the groups whom our group vilifies or injures.
Aside from redirecting anger outward to relieve internal hostility, our social groups realize another benefit from racism and ahtred by maintaining the identity of our groups by contrasting our group with other groups. We want to make our own group look like a good group to belong to in order to make the members happy to be part of our group and one way to make our group look better is to put down other groups, to vilify them. Its not a nice thing to do but it is an effective way to promote group identity and a motivate the members of our group to stay in our group.
But we can create better means to resolve hostility and promote a valued sense of group identity, ways that respect other groups and individuals rather than tear them down. Many people are working toward that end, promoting self-esteem because self-esteem is what we get from belonging to a group and if we are strong as individuals we do not need to participate in nasty hostile behaviour towards other people.
No one can say when we can achieve such a goal on a global scale, or even if it is possible, but I believe it is possible and we can achieve it as individuals now. By becoming peaceful, loving, compassionate and nurturing human beings who embrace all others as beloved equals we can at the very least change the world we experience and lead the way for others to follow our examples. Then, perhaps, we may achieve peace in our lifetimes or our children's lifetinms....
It all begins with ourselves and how we choose to love and honor ourselves and others.
Peace!

Unfortunately, there will always be racism and hatred in America. Maybe if all the races mix and there is only one color and all the religions combine into one belief, their might be a chance.

Be kind to them. If they need a favour do it for them and invite them round. Many people judge other people because of their race before they even know them. So you gotta show your neighbor your not like that so called "reputation" that your race has. God bless! x

Let peace and love start with you! You share it and others will share it with others and so on.
As far as when will there be peace on earth...when there are no human beings to interfer with it!

We all need to get to know each other. Learn to understand each others cultures and religions. Luckily my Mom exposed me to many cultures, races and religions so I have learned to love and appreciate diversity.

everyone is racist to me. and all of the immature people are really sexist. to be honest, i think- NEVER. i don't think there will be peace. wars- fights with people- bad sportsmanship, stuff like that. that wont help peace between people grow. but i don't think there is any hope for peace anymore. everyone is racist, sexist, and just plain rude. that isn't all that peaceful...
