I believe it is possible to find life forms on mars and other planets and I do not believe it is a waste of time or resources. The quest for knowledge and understanding is never a waste in my opinion. Even if we are only finding single cell organisms, that is amazing. They are still considered life forms no matter how insignificant they seem to us. And if you do believe in the big bang theory, finding these microbes may give us insight as to where we came from and where are species is headed.

Both - it is possible, but still a waste of time and resources. Mars has been without a magnetic field and/or atmosphere for a couple billion years. The probability that life exists today, nevermind in the past, is incredibly small. I think we should still research Mars, but to solely look for a couple microbes is not worth the astronomical costs.

There is a possibility. But I think it is very slim. The atmosphere and conditions are not right for any kind of life more interesting the a few single celled blobs, but still.

Any mission to search for life also sends back information about the geology and surface conditions of the planet among other things. So if we don't find life it's still not a waste of time.

There's evidence that liquid water has been on Mars recently. On Earth anywhere there's water there's life, even in the harshest conditions. Some of the technology that NASA develops for space exploration is applied for other purposes, so it isn't a complete waste.

There are theories that there has already been life discovered on mars. But that's denied by NASA and other government agencies. I'm not big on coverups, but its interesting to entertain the possiblity. I personally dont think its a waste of our budget to explore the possiblity of life on mars. It might give us more insight on how life on our own plannet came to be.

There is a possibility of life on mars because they just took pictures of water there. Life is existent on different levels of CO2, O2, and H2O.

I think they will find microscopic life forms, which in and of itself is awesome. i dont think there are humans, or human-like creatures on Mars, but who knows.
It is possible that there are other complex life forms elsewere in the universe...in fact I'd bet my paycheck on it.

Maybe not life now but they recently found out that there was once water there so this means there could have been life there long ago
