If the student has a very good relationship with them or they just are great teachers then I think it's fine. When I was in elementary school I would always give a small gift to my teachers if I really liked them. Now that I'm in high school, I pick and chose which teachers I want to give them to. Also keep in mind that you don't have to get big gifts. I know that some teachers are happy even if they get something as small as a drawing from their students. Candy and baked goods are also good. Your husband may be against it because he might think it will all add up on the "Christmas bill" but you don't need to splurge on teachers. I usually bake brownies or cookies for them and wrap them up in nice little holiday bags. And they absoulutely love it.

P.S- some teachers also like crafts, since it shows that the child spent time making a something for their teacher...if your child is a craft person that is...like painted pots..or mugs..etc..

It depends where you are. I don't give gifts to teachers, and didn't keep any when I was a teacher. Some places it's considered bribery.

Anyway, if you do get something, a card and maybe some candy. If you think they're great teachers, offer to make a donation to a charity in their name. Or better yet, just express those feelings in something personal, like a handmade card or poem.

Stay away from anything of monetary value. It could be seen as a bribe, and possibly be taken as an insult. And teachers do get picked on by other teachers for being a "parents pet".

My mom gave my teachers presents until I got into middle school (because that's when we started switching classes, and it was just too much to get presents for eight different teachers).

She often gave them gift certificates for movie theaters.

your kid's teacher would think it was cute for their student to give a present to them, so yes, indirectly. Have your son tell them "from my mom and I" (or "me", if that's how he talks). His teacher will appreciate it.
