sometimes we forgot about our pride and act irrationally by letting ourselves hurt over and over again. Why do you think that is? why do reason get thrown out the door when you are in love?

I think as you get more experienced, your confidence and self-respect grow. Then you don't throw the reason out the door as easily as before. Love and reason, love and pride, love and self-respect are not mutually exclusive.

Humans are emotional creatures because we can reason and have the ability to think abstractly and in reference to time (past, present, future). When we get into situations, it is very hard for us to look at ll sides of the situation and make rational choices.
Think about times when a frind has come to you with a "problem" that you immediately saw the solution to. Why didn't your friend see the solution with simple clarity? They were emotionally caught up in the situation.
I don't know your situation or the situation(s) you talking about, but there are things you can do to help cut down on emotional action/reaction that destroys relationships.
1. Never bring up the past. The past is the past, and it's already gone by.
2. Before answering, take two deep breaths and then talk without raising your voice.
3. Remember what brought you and the other person together in the firt place was.
4. If it's a significant other, make sure that you both have the same life goals and similar outlook on life (spiritual, mental, etc.).
5. Seek counseling, if needed.

It's so much harder to see the truth of the matter, when it's you. Although others will see clearly. Like they say, love is blind. It's so much easier to live in fantacy, then face reality. But be careful, cause sooner or later you must face the truth. If you wait until later, you could do serious damage to your heart. Good luck...:)
