I too am obese with a desire to become merely overweight. Although I always try to look my best when in public I am always conscious of my weight. I've been told my make-up is great, I have a great hairstyle for my face & body & I wear quality clothes which I believe are attractive. I prefer 3/4 length sleeves & wouldn't consider wearing anything shorter & I wear A-line dresses with a hemline which is best for my legs. And I wear pantsuits. Its important to wear the same color top & bottom. Whatever you do, do NOT wear baggy clothing - it only makes you look heavier. In spite of all my efforts I have overheard very hurtful comments from others whom I'm sure meant for me to overhear them.
As you lose weight you will become more confident. Even 10 lbs will make you feel proud of yourself! Set a goal which you believe you can maintain. My dr told me when I reached the point my health was affected by my weight. If I could ever diet, I would ask my dr again & at the very least that would be my 1st goal. Were you to do this you could then decide if you wanted to continue.
I wish you much luck as I know how difficult your undertaking is. On one of my diets (very few) I weaned myself off sugar & discovered that after 3 wks or so I no longer craved it. So there's hope!

well i think you should look at your good point IE, your eyes, a pretty smile, a great laugh that type of thing.i know this sounds cliche but if you like things about yourself its easy to portray to other people, like yourself before you expect others too. i agree with loose fitting clothes, also check out what kind of styles of clothes suit you eg: a line skirts , v neck shirts, long jackets as opposed to cropped ones. Its amazing what different kind of style clothing can do for a person. Also try experimenting with some make-up and try a new hairstyle or a colour for your hair. Keep working at shedding those pounds- you will feel healthier and you'll find that you enjoy the feeling and become more confidant in yourself.hope that helps:)

Always take time to pamper yourself, do your hair everyday, do your makeup, get a manicure and pedicure regularly (at home or at a spa) and always remember to love yourself no matter what. A good attitude makes you glow and look beautiful no matter how much you weigh. Wear flattering clothes, don't hide in frumpy grungy ones. The better you are dressed the better you will feel and this self confidence will show. It's the little things that make us feel attractive, smelling good is one of them, try different fragrances and take yourself shopping for accessories these can complement your outfits and will still fit once you've lost the weight. I wish you all of the best on your road to get healthy.

Correction on another answerer's response: Don't wear loose fitting clothes.. that makes you look heavier. Just don't wear things that are too small. A lot of people associate the obese with bad style, that is sometimes why people brush them off so easily. Keep up your style, wear things you know you look good in, just because you're not thin doesn't mean the latest fashions aren't right for you. If you don't feel too great about yourself below your chest, take more time bringing out your eyes and playing up your face and hair. And most of all, remember that a LOT of men love curvy women. And if you're eating healthy and exercising, everyone admires someone that is discipline enough to do that, you should feel good about yourself just because of that!

If you don't think you are attractive nobody else will! Stop doing this to yourself. Why women still try to fit into this image that a 12 year old body looks good is crazy. Besides computers do all the work anyway. They don't even like the way they look. Just think about the things they do to themselves. You are the normal. Just get the bad thoughts out of your head.

Have confidence in yourself and do not view yourself as an obese person.
Dress in clothes that flatter you, colors that go well with your complexion.
Accessorize with bold jewelery and scarves.
Love yourself for who you are and the talents you offer, not by what you weigh or what others think of you.
If you carry yourself with pride and dignity most people will treat you the same way.

get your hair and makeup done, get a manicure and pedicure, treat yourself to a spa day and have a massage. pretty much just pamper YOURSELF and tell YOURSELF that you are beautiful. beauty and confidence start from the inside. the fact that you are trying to take better care of yourself makes you a phenomenal woman. once you become confident and secure in yourself, others will notice it too and you will exude beauty everywhere you go.

Cynthia S is right on the money. Take care to groom yourself well, (not overdone, but well), and wear clothes that fit you. Just as she stated, baggy clothes will make you look sloppy and too tight of clothes make you look as if you aren't capable of dressing yourself or that you are in denial. It calls attention to your size.
By the way, I am VERY tired of the media, (TV, the movies, magazines), portraying fat people as stupid, lazy, slobs. It just is not true. It isn't okay to make fun of any other group anymore except fat people. I for one, will not purchase anything from the sponsors of such programs. It's wrong pure and simple.

i think if a person is really happy a lot it makes them pretty, if your happy your pretty and if your pretty your happy so smile a lot and be super friendly, everyone looks better if they're confident. If you feel pretty then you are pretty, dont concentrate on your weight, concentrate on something you like like your eyes or your lips, shop at places like torrid they have trendy clothes for plus sized women.

Most fat women are jolly persons. Just stay happy and you glow outwardly. Obese persons are acceptable as they are. Be confident and friendly. Looks does not matter but your attitude towards other people. Be neat and apply little make up. wear vertical strips clothes. no mini skirts. long blouses to cover your tummy. Asnd please no junk foods, rice, pasta, cakes and sodas.
