If something like this were to happen, how far are we from a breaking point?

Do I think the US will be invaded? Yes

Will the invasion be successful? No

60,000,000 gun owners in the US, half of them willing to defend this nation to the death, no army on earth has enough military power to defeat the citizens of the US.

Comparing an invasion of the US to the hijacking of 4 airplanes is ludicrous. Hijackings have happened in the US occasionally for the past few decades. Not only did no one say "it can't happen", by and large, they didn't even ponder if it could happen ( with the execption of a few intelligence agents who said it could). Let me clue you into something - the US military has considered the possibility of an invasion. If you think a dozen or two people in a conspiracy fashion planning the invasion for a couple of years is likely to lead to anything meaningful, you are silly.

I don't think economically developed countries get invaded. The last time that happened was probably in August, 1944. There is no value to it. It is resource rich and economically undeveloped neighbors which are easier to invade and more worthwhile. Mutual cooperation with Canada and Mexico will/have prevented either of them form launching or allowing an invasion to be launched from their countries.

WOW! Reading these answers is fascinating! How unbelievably arrogant to believe that the US could not be invaded! I would suspect that these are the very same people who would say that the hijacking of four commercial airliners would be impossible on American soil. And that no one, certainly would or could fly them into the World Trade Centre or the Pentagon. Thinking like this is either head in the sand or a very false sense of security. Either way...it makes it very easy for terrorists and other factions to infiltrate and ultimately invade the country.

I think we are more likely to get invaded by countries in the Middle East than Russia or China. It is Venezuela who would possibly allow them to attack us with missiles from there. But I doubt this would happen. JFK prevented a war by negotiating with Russia when they had their missiles in Cuba. If this were to happen today with Bush in office we would probably go to war. But I seriously doubt we have to worry about this (pray to God).

Russia's day is past. China-probably not, unless the NK situation escalates enough to involve them like in the Korean War of 1950.

We have already been invaded by China and they own most of our investment paper but no one tells you that on the news.

thinking you can make a whole film in your head and have it happen. The mind is unlimited. I prefer to check my thinking a little and look at the possibility of joining up and use the war funds for international development.

no because we have enough technology to know if we was getting invaded. Plus even if they could they would never take the whole country we have to much land space

Never, our cultural is taking over all of theirs like that person typed earlier... plus, our military isn't made for Guerilla Warfare, but it is made for the big attacks from places like China ;)

Russia hasn't been communist for quite some time now, and they don't particularly hate us. China I'm not so sure about.
