It's really important to look after your teeth when your expecting as the baby will try and take all the goodness from your food that you need for your teeth. I actually hadn't been to the dentist for a long time (I moved to a different city and never got round to registering), however by my second visit I was 8 weeks pregnant! I had a number of teeth removed, fillings done (at one stage I had 3 parts of my mouth anaesthetised!). Thankfully my teeth have been fine since, and I've had regular checkups. Also the state of your teeth can bring on early labour (my dentist did his PHD on teeth in pregnancy) and poor dental hygiene can indeed trigger early labour. So look after them!

You can go get a cleaning while you are pregnant. They just don't want you to have x-rays while you are pregnant and some of the stuff they use while doing work on your teeth isn't the best for your baby. Tell your dentist when you go in for a cleaning that you are pregnant, just in case, and discuss further dental plans with you doctor at your first prenatal appointment. Congratulations!

Not going to the dentist while pg. would be a bad thing. Your teeth and gums are more sensitive and more prone to problems now. You have to let your dentist know that you are pregnant so you don't get any X-rays, but a cleaning and check up would be a good thing.

No it's safe. Actually I just finished my 6 week Lamaze course/class and at the last class they talked about going to the Dentist and how important it is. Because if you have an infection then it could affect your baby as well. They actually encourage you to go!
Just let your dentist know how far long you are.

Go to the dentist but make sure you tell him your pregnant and that he doesn't give you any drugs! My friend went to the dentist for some work while she was pregnant and they gave her Novocaine and she ended up having a seizure. Now mind you this doesn't mean it will happen to you but when pregnant you should take extra precautions.

It is safe to go to the dentist. Just let them know haow far along you are. I had two teeth pulled when I was 7 months pregnant. All they had to do was monitor my blood pressure and take extra precautions during the x-rays.

talk to a doctor...it may be okay, but in your specific case it may not be. if he says it's ok, then tell your dentist that you're pregnant so he doesn't give you x-rays or anything like that.
