It depends on what you are in to. A lot of the current good flicks have a lot of violence in them but are still good flicks.
Go see:
1. The Departed - Very cool
2. Apocalypto - Good story great camera work
3. Blood Diamond - Intense and a true story
4. The Pursuit of Happyness - Not violent / Good
Stay away from:
1. Rocky Balboa - I guess they though by changing the title that the new generation would have no clue he's done 5 of these.
2. Deck the Halls - A watse of film
3. National Lampoon's Van Wilder: The rise of Taj - There are some movies that are just not meant to have a part two and this one proves it.
Wait for rental:
Borat
Deja Vu
Bobby
Eragon

The Fountain- I love walking out of a movie having to really analyze the film. It is such a religious, spiritual, philosophical, and theological movie. It's very deep, beautifully acted, directed, and the music and cinematography are both gorgeous and haunting. By far one of the best films ever made.

ok...i'm only writing in response to the person who wrote that the fountain was one of the best movies. i watched the fountain because my wife wanted to see it...and it was one of the worst movies ever made. Honestly, whoever wrote it used cliches upon cliches upon cliches....it had no originality what-so-ever. don't watch it...it had some memorable scenes it but they tried too hard to make it seem deeper than it really was...wow!!!! i'm so sad that I spent 10 bucks to watch that movie...wait till it comes out on dvd and then don't rent it...

Stranger Than Fiction is very good. It's a heavy movie about a guy who finds out he's going to die and he's given the opportunity to decide if he wants to know how he's going to die.
