my gpa is a 2.0 and I plan to continue to improve on it. I have not completed most of my pre-med reqs. I was wondering if I should get my psych degree then after that go back to school and get the pre-med stuff done or just do it now before I graduate.

Because of your poor GPA, I suggest you finish your degree, and go for a post-bac premed program at a university to finish the premed requirements. Then you won't have to worry about taking the often difficult and curved requirements, which won't improve you gpa that much anyway.
here's the one at my school: http://www.jhu.edu/postbac/

A unmarried mom, elevating four boys? I say no on med university. Go for PA. Much less complicated, quicker, get out and begin getting paid. The colossal majority of men and women in Med university don't seem to be dad and mom. If they're dad and mom, then they're married and the opposite occasion is at dwelling, taking good care of the youngsters. And no one has four youngsters. How are you going to compete for the grades, do your rotations, and be a mom to teenaged boys a university-ager and a child/preschooler? It simply does not make experience. If you unfold your self too skinny, it can result in a challenge like a auto twist of fate or a challenge being pregnant, or youngsters burning the residence down bcs. they're unsupervised and many others. Really. Not well. I do not imply to overwhelm your goals. But you will have to ask your self why you desire to grow to be a general practitioner. If your motivations are status, that's now not valued at the dangers, individually. If you absolutely desire to paintings in wellbeing care, you might feel good about being a nurse.

Tough choice.

The advantage of doing it after you graduate is that you'd likely take it at a JC and likely get better grades due to the lack of competition and easier grading in general.

The advantage to do it now is that you have seniority and it'll be easier to get into those required classes. My sister had to fight with pre-med students for certain science classes cuz she changed her mind after graduating with a Psych degree as well (she wants to do Phys Therapy now). She goes to about 5 different JC's over the past 3 or 4 years cuz it's so hard to get into those classes due to seniority.
