They do this due to lack of understanding, or knowledge on the subject. Enlighten them with some "facts" on Introversion. So, they know that you are 'healthy and happy" :
Introverts are only 1/4 of the planet.
Introverts are genuinely happy.
Introverts are well-balanced.
Also, how would an extrovert feel having to be "alone all day" with no one to talk to, or entertain you? You'd go nuts, right?
Well, this is exactly what your asking an introvert to do, by having them be around people all day.
Lets not change people to our "own comfort levels." That would be selfish. We all have a right to be comfortable in our own way.

Im kinda 80 % introvert most of the time, even my family always bothers me and asks me why do you stay alone most of the time ? is there any problem ? come on get out of your room and join us...stuff like this makes me angry and mad,i mean im like why dont you get it that i want to stay alone sometimes ! i watch movies and football most of my time and i enjoy it when im alone,i dont like noise at all,i feel awkward and weird when sometimes when im between a group of people, that's why i dont visit people so much,i know its becoming kinda boring but this is my type,i give you an advice dont bother yourself thinking how they are feeling towards you, live your life like you want as long as you are not hurting or insulting anyone, that's it its...Introvert and proud ;)

I am one and I don't care what they think because whatever is is they are doing is boring to me. I'd rather read a book, clean out a closet, or join the Red Cross disaster team. Put me with a bunch of introverts and I can quickly become and extrovert. I am facinated.

Don't listen to what people say or think. I like you enjoy being by myself. I have a family now, but they are the only people I really associate with, I just don't like messing around with other people, I like them, I believe they bring color, and spice to our world I just don't want to bother with them.

don't let it bother you, i don't need or want to be around people most of the time. I've turned into a bit of a misanthropist because people keep asking if I'm ok. dating is a little hard sometimes... but I'd rather be alone, it doesn't mean I'm depressed or have problems, i just want to be alone.

Introverts get energy being by themselves. Extroverts by being around people.

Personally, i think introverts are really creative and adventurous, except they show their interesting side to the right people. Introverts have faced rejections for who-knows-how-long, for example, the extroverts are being loud and dominating in school that in group works, they reject any ideas from people that they truly don't agree with, which often causes conflict between extrovert and extrovert. iT'S good being true to yourself, but hey, sometimes in teamwork you gotta' just tolerate and accept. Introverts first contribute their ideas in a group work, and then, their ideas have been muffled repeatedly by people so easily that they soon don't try anymore! And when they realize being alone is a much more efficient way to release their emotions and unleash their creativity to the fullest, they shut themselves out because they know that being alone, you don't have to feel unaccepted or rejected. And eventually they fall in love with being able to let go that they don't really contribute a lot in a group work.
Sometimes pretending to be something you're not just to fit in is tiring. People stop trying.
I would definitely love some socializing, but please, I won't be the one to start a conversation. You want to talk to me, you start one. Sometimes speaking to an introvert will be boring, and AWKWARD, BUT SHE WILL GRADUALLY open up and love your company. however, efficiently try to socialize with an introvert, because if you bother her too much you will annoy her.
UNDERSTAND, PEOPLE!

Extroverts just don't think that way. They can't comprehend that someone else might just want to be alone.
