Yes - I have been up close with New Dad Syndrome for myself and 2 sisters and have seen the new father psychosis that revolves around "Oh my god! How can I provide for this child". It is so natural - it's a big new scary thing and men have no control over it what so ever. The only thing they can do is provide - so they dive in to the extreme (as determined to be good fathers as we are to be perfect mothers), often missing the loveliest moments of the most important thing in their life while they are off trying to provide for it.
My advice to you is to take a deep breath and remember that you have never had any trouble providing for yourself and millions of people do this each year - you can do this. Take a deep breath and make a good plan - something you can point to when you feel a bit nuts, a measurable, attainable goal that allows you to see progress.
And remember, this is not the time to buy a house. It seems like it sometimes, but it's not. A baby can sleep in a portacrib in your livingroom until it's a year or 2, despite what Martha Stewart might say. They say the most stressful things in a person's life are getting married, buying their first house and having their first child - take it easy on yourself and enjoy. No one comes out of the box a perfect parent - the point is to enjoy the journey upon which we learn how to be a good one.
Peace!

It's good to see men who are interested in being involved in pregnancy and parenting.
The best thing you can do (for your g/f AND for your own safety!) is to be really really nice and understanding! Pregnant women just don't always make sense to the rest of the world!!
And avoid the words "enormous" "huge" and "round"!!!
Seriously though, it's normal to be scared, just think how scary this is for your g/f!! Communicate. Let her know she's not alone in this. Talk a lot about parenting together and what you see for your little one in the future. If you two are working at it together from the start things will be easier and go more smoothly once the baby's born.
Congratulations! And try not to worry too much, live & learn.

Congrats!!!
Be involved!!! It goes by so fast and you don't want to look back wishing you had been at things but you were to busy playing or dinking around and missed it.
Support your g/f. Be there for her through it all. Give her a break so she can renew herself. It helps everyone when mom gets a break from the household chores and mommy duties.
It doesn't hurt to read the books. Don't follow them word for word necessarily but use them as a guide for how you want to father your child.
good luck :)

Be there for your girlfriend aall the way thru it and offer her all of your love support and heart. Let her blame you completely for the pain during child birth- we all blame the man! After wards hold your child each and everyday and never ever forget to tell BOTH of them how much they are loved!
