Siamese fighting fish, more commonly known as Betta fish, are surface breathers. Since they are surface breathers they need to be able to swim to the surface of their tank very quickly and easily. This is why they are commonly found in small tanks.
Betta fish also secrete a gel that protects them from harmful bacteria. A filter system may disrupt the gel making it easier for your fish to be exposed to harmful bacteria. Although, in a smaller tank with no filter, you will have to clean the tank at least once every 2 weeks.
I hope this helps! Remember to never put two male bettas in the same tank!

it quite is maximum truthfully ok. you will must be a splash careful approximately what different fish you put in there with them nonetheless. different bettas are out of the question. some declare that a tank of seventy 5 gallons is substantial sufficient for 2 bettas, yet it quite is lots of wasted area even despite if it quite is actual. Bettas now and back attack different fish, especially colourful ones that wag their tails. Fancy tail guppies are a undemanding aim, as are neon tetras. Bettas will almost in no way injury algae eaters, backside feeders, and fish that are white, brown, or gray. Corydoras seem to agree fairly nicely with bettas. Gold snails upload a splash greater shade to the scene.

As long as its not with another male betta, he's perfectly fine in a filtered tank.

you would not need to because they only need small tanks and small tanks don't need filters, just a little cleaning from time to time but you can if you want! : )
