Please help. My sister got hers today and I think ours are coming Friday. I will not eat them and will not cook them. I can't give them to a restaurant because I know they will die. They are kind-a cute. If I put them in the ocean will they live?? What can I do with them to save them... and I do not want to keep them. Hurry please time is ticking.

hurry put them in a 20 gallon tank with water they will eat shrimp. give them about 5 shrimp a piece if the don't eat its probably because there not use to their enviroment. i'm not sure if they will live in an ocean it depends on if they are wild or were bred in captivity. if they were wild then they should do fine in the ocean. if they arent wild you could still set them free in the ocean & there instincts would probably kick in & they'll be fine. or if you dont want to set them free in an ocean try giving them to a pet store or ask someone at a petstore what you can do. i hope i helped u out & i hope the lobsters do allright! oh & that last answer you got about putting them in a freezer don't do it they will die!

I'm sorry you're having a conflict. It's a little tricky of a gift, perhaps not for everyone (though my husband would love it).

If I were you, I'd give them someone who will enjoy them. The lobsters were most likely raised in captivity (for eating purpoises only) and would die if you release them into the ocean.

Then you should politely call the person who sent them to you and be grateful you received a "gift" at all. Lots of luck and Merry Christmas! God bless.

+ I am not sure where you are from so if your ocean is near where they exist in nature then by all means you can put them there. If you are in the tropics and they are Maine lobsters they may not last too long.

I have heard that they tried to transplant Maine lobsters to Alaska. I heard that due to the salinity difference between the pacific and the Atlantic they would not breed, however I also heard that they lived much longer than their normal life expectancy and became monster 30 to 40 lb lobsters and there are supposed to be some still roaming around out there.

I don't know... Call your local fish club or wildlife rescue. They need certain water conditions to survive, but I don't know much about lobsters.

Okay, you need new friends. Who gives someone live lobsters for Christmas??? What, there weren't any more sweaters at Wal-Mart?

If you wrap them up in newspaper and put them in your freezer they will go into hibernation - that should give you enough time to figure out what you want to do.
