newspapers did they have in Europe

at the time? How did word spread from

place to place? (Travelers, business

people, etc.).

by this country you mean U.S. he should be aware of it, U.S. declared independence in 1776, and Beethoven lived from 1770-1827. Also at that time, 3 revolutions, including the American revolution had a huge impact in the society of Europe. And it's from those changes that Beethoven was able to break away from the need of a patron. if there's any actual records of it, i don't know

sure. north america was "discovered" in 1492. he would have to have his head in the sand not to know about it. i think he was a bit smarter than that
