Yes, I have read the Grapes of Wrath by Steinbeck. There is also an old movie with Henry Fonda that follows the book closely. Steinbeck had a way of getting to the heart of his subject The book is a way to discover one of the more tragic periods in American history, the exodus of farmers from the Midwest due to circumstances beyond their control and what happens to one family of the many who made the journey. It is also on the scale of a bigger picture, what happens when you go looking for a better life, can you really find it? The book also made me realize what it is to be really poor, and to not judge people, and that to be kind to each other is one of the lessons we should learn. Not everyone is in their circumstance out of their own choosing.
