what does it look like and how do you know if you've lost it when your pregnant?

You can loose it all at once or in chunks or not at all until birth.
It is like stringy and sticky and gross.
It looks like what it sounds...snotty and gross. Like a lot of nasty discharge.

oh it's not that gross. with my first pregnancy i lost it all at once- with this pregnancy- ive been loosing a little at a time. I can tell because i always chck when i wipe (ie for mucus plug or bleeding etc etc) but anyways-- it's snotty/mucus/gel type stuff-- Everyone has posted about the blood in it- but thats not always true- lots of times you wont see the blood or anything- it will just be clear mucus.

A mucus plug may be clear, slightly pink or blood tinged in color. It may be stringy mucus or sticky discharge. Some women may not even notice the loss of their mucus plug because there is already an increase in vaginal discharge during pregnancy.

I was wondering the same thing. I'm 39 weeks friday and I still haven't lost it. Will I ever lose it? How many weeks are you?

It's YUCKY.
looks like a giant booger with blood streaked through it (think around the size of a marble.
You might or might not see it.

it looks kinda gross...it's called a mucus plug...not attractive. :) usually you will see it in the toilet or on your panties. mine came out when my water broke...that's not always the case though.

snotty, sometimes white often streaked with blood...lost mine after my water broke...depends on the person

Its like gel, and has brownish red blood in it. it can be whole or in pieces, but the blood color gives it away.
