You could subscribe to wireless service through a cellular company such as Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint. You'd be able to connect wherever you can get a cell signal and the speed is fast too.

Either get a broadband connection with a wireless router and WLAN NIC or steal someone elses connection if you get lucky enough to be close to a WLAN..
WOW did the guy above me say that the Verizon card uses Bluetooth ROFL.
Bluetooth for one is not a modem in any way. It is a device that allows certain wireless peripherals at a low frequency range to connect wirelessly. MAX distance for a BT device is like 10 meters and thats pushing it. The Verizon card uses a Sattelite connection, hence why it is so expensive and why you can go anywhere with it. It is only worth having one of those if you travel all the time and you have lots of money.

You could get a modem card for your laptop. WHich is like abuilt in modem that you connect to your laptop and you could get wireless conneciton of DSL anywhere. But these cards ranges prices from 100 and up because it has bluetooth technology for wireless capabilties.

You can get Cable Internet with Wirless Router.
Or IF you have a PCIMCIA Type -1 you can
use any Wirless Card such as Verizon or T-Mobile etc.
Or you can get a Wirless USB and Free load your Neighbor Internet.
