Make it into a show, but don't forget the small details:

1) Make sure he/she get's a gift from Mom & Dad, as well as Santa. That's how my parents blew it with skeptical me -- no presents from mom & dad.
2) Maybe invest in some used (if possible) Sleigh bells -- the real kind on a leather strap. Get a family friend to toss it on the roof X-mas night (so nobody will be heard going outside).
3) If possible, get a Santa Claus actor to deliver the pre-wrapped gifts. He shouldn't make much of a commotion, but maybe clear his throat, and slurp his milk. If the kids wake up, Santa should be cordial & whisper "Shhhh. Merry Christmas. You need to wait until morning, okay?"

I always would tell my kids that Santa is very real just like the Spirit of Christmas is real in our hearts. And that's why Santa has many helpers on Christmas day. Use big words that are very much the truth but far over their heads. And one day the lights will come on the magic will be over but they will really understand what the Spirit of Christmas is about...love and giving to others. BTW Santa is not a "lie" Santa is "pretend" so don't let anyone confuse about that. Kids need to pretend and we need to pretend with them sometimes.

I would just tell your children that Santa Claus is NOT real and explain the true meaning of Christmas to them and let them know that it is not about the gifts it is about Jesus's birth. If you tell them depending on how old they are that Santa is not real they will most likely just laugh at themselves for believing it.

My kids are all grown up now and have recently said "Thanks for not lying to me about Santa being real." I wanted them to know the REAL meaning of Christmas but explained to them that Christmas was like a birthday party for Jesus and Santa is like the clown at a party - he is just for fun. The recieved gifts from "Santa" and loved pretending about that, but they always new the reason we really celebrate at Christmas. I hope this helps you out! My kids turned out great!

Why would you want your child to live in a fantasy land? It would be like asking "How do you make sure your child does not find out the sky is blue?". The sky IS blue. It is a fact. Santa is NOT real. It is a fact. Don't deprive your children of facts. Teach them the truth. Teach them love, forgiveness and generosity. Teach them about faith and hope.

You don't. It's what they hear at School Will decide if Santa is Real or Not. Make it is as real as possible in the mean time, because it wont last long.

You know, of course, that they WILL find out eventually. I think I was about 7 when I found out. My grandson, who lives with me is 7 and he is still a believer!

I think it is not whether they find out, but how they find out. You keep it from being a disaster by the way you handle it. When I found out, I had younger siblings. So my parents just let me be their helper with wrapping, etc for the "Santa" gifts for the others. I never felt unhappy about it.

Good luck!

They will, and you can not stop it. What you need to educate them on is : the spirit of SANTA! That is always real and more important than Santa being real or not!
