What a coincidence. I'm reading an article on paternalism and here is a question related to that issue. I'm a non smoker but I never get in the face of smokers. Yeah it's your life, sure. But it could also bring harm to those around you. Second hand smoking is just as dangerous as first hand smoking so maybe that's why some non-smokers are so rude.

I am a non-smoker, but I am not one to get in the face of smokers, although I may give them a dirty look if they are standing outside a place that I'm going into, and I they are blowing smoke in my face. Thankfully, here in New York State, smoking is barred in public places. I think that anyone should have a choice of smoking if they want, and that smokers shouuld have their space, although the non-smoking areas should be far away from where the smokers are. I don't think that anti-smoking laws are made to punish smokers, but rather to protect non-smokers from inhaling the smoke, which makes some of our eyes run, makes us cough, and causes our clothes to stink, like in some bars.

They might be expressing concern for your health but not in a useful way. If you don't smoke around them how do they know you smoke? Just don't tell people about it.

Well.....non-smokers are at risk of second-hand smoking and it's worse than first-hand smoking....They are just worrying over their own health.....(I only bother my family about it)
