Tomorrow is my baby's first birthday, but because of the weather and it being soooo close to christmas i am wondering whether i should wait for a birthday party. what would be preferable? something small the day before xmas eve? or waiting until January or February for a birthday party? please. some ideas.

Happy Birthday to your little one. I had 3 Christmas babies. December 9th, December 7th and December 24th. Now... to answer your question. Since your little one is so young, the day is not all that serious. It wouldn't hurt to have the party after the Christmas Holidays. But, later on I would say age 5 years on up, be sure to make the B.D. a very special day. For each of my babies I made sure they had their B.D. celebrations on their B.D. So they could feel special and not feel like their B.D. is being thrown in with Christmas. It wasn't as difficult with the 1rst child and the 2nd, especially when they started to school, because when they were going to school, their teachers always recognized students B.D.'s. And the first two had their B.D. before Christmas break. But, my poor little Christmas Eve baby missed out at school so we threw a big bash for him. In order to do so, I would send out invitations to the parents and add that it was an opportunity to have free babysitting for 2 hours while they prepared for Christmas day. It worked like a charm.

Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year :)

Since your baby is only 1, it doesn't really matter this year. You have all kinds of options. How about you, your baby, spouse, and your mother, sister(s), etc., just go out for a nice dinner. Bring along a little camera and one of those baby cakes (if the restaurant will allow it) and just have a relaxed and casual time. When my son was 1, I just went to my moms with a big cake and a few gifts. I had invited a few close family members and took a few pictures and everything turned out great. This way, you really don't have to worry about sending out invitations, planning, and all that stuff. Believe me, there will be plenty of time for those big birthday parties in the future. GOOD LUCK!

Until your baby understand what a birthday is, you should have her birthday party on her birthday. and still let her have xmas. when she is old enough to understand, you can give her one gift for her birthday and the rest of her gifts for xmas.

You may have that problem every year! You can't change his birth date! Go ahead and celebrate it! It doesn't have to be extravagant, or a lot of people. Even if it's just family it will be fun and help take every ones minds of the weather.
Invite your next door neighbors over for cake and ice cream! Have Fun!

Oh, I would. I think whatever is convenient to the whether and your schedule. It's his/her first birthday, she/he is not going to care if it's a little late. You want to be safe, and convenient.
