Political correctness is stupid. I understand that some things will make people upset, like calling a black person a ******. Understandably, that has no place. On the other hand, if you say something with respect, there's really no reason for someone to get upset.

The most ridiculous things I've heard of are race related. Black people went from colored people to black to African Americans. Once it was decided that white people can also be African American, they went back to black. Make up your mind. I might be politically incorrect without even knowing it because the rules change so often. Same thing with North American Indians. I'm not even sure what the politically correct term is any more. It was Indians, then Native Americans...last I heard, it was First Nations, but I have no idea if that's still current. It makes your head spin trying to stay on top of it.

It's gone way too far. I really don't give two shits about being politically correct. Sorry, freedom of speech and I'm not going to be afraid of whether or not I'm going to offend someone. If you don't like what I have to say then f*** you.
Occurence, my friend held up a shirt at Spencers that said "Let my people mow" and a Mexican walked by (live in Phoenix). She said it was mean, I said get a sense of humor. It's alright to make fun of our elected President, someone you should respect but you're supposed to, basically, have no sense of humor about anything regarding everyone else so you don't offend anyone.

The strangest occurrence I've heard of? Attempts to amend the Constitution of the United States because some overly-sensitive veterans whine that someone somewhere within the borders of the U.S. might be burning a flag as a means to express their *gasp* dislike for this nation and/or its policies.

Of course it has!!!! Political correctness is an attack on free speech, clear thinking and discussion. Political correctness is perpetrated by the left in politics as a cover for their flawed ideology - a sort of cultural Marxism. Political correctness is an attack on all the cohesive elements of our society using the grounds that they are repressive and need liberalising. Political correctness is Marxism without the gun. It seeks to inhibit personal freedom of speech and action, replacing it with a Marxist dogma that we are all supposed to embrace. In reality though, Political correctness has done untold damage to our society by giving supposedly 'repressed' groups freedoms without any sort of balancing responsibility. Worst of all though, political correctness is an insidious ideological disease which has spread unchecked because most people just think of it as a joke.
Political correctness has made common sense a thing of the past. If you catch a burglar in your house then it's best to help the poor soul by carrying your possessions to the front door lest he should trip up and hurt himself and it's you that end up in court!
Our British humour has suffered badly. We can't tell jokes anymore in case it's considered racist or it upsets anyone. Don't these Politically Correct people realise that these are just jokes, said for fun and not real abuse?

Political correctness went too far in the 1980's with some over-zealous left-wingers but they were soon ridiculed and they shut up.

However, the racists saw a propaganda opportunity and have sought to keep the idea of political correctness (especially their favourite "PC gone mad") alive as a means of dividing people who would prefer to integrate.

Think about it - who benefits from crap about Christmas being banned and half-witted stories about Baa Baa Blue Sheep? The BNP and UKIP racists do - they can make political capital with lies about your way of life being under threat. Does anyone actually personally know any Muslims, Bhuddists or Hindus offended by our Christmas celebrations?

Don't believe the Daily Mail & BNP propaganda about PC gone mad. It's designed to divide when most of us want to work together.

Gone too far? I think it was wrong from the start.

The strangest occurrence I can think of is the Micheal Richards incident. He let blacks call hm a white cracker and other names and got in political trouble for retaliating.

How's that for not being politically correct?

Way way way too far! At the ice cream van you can't ask for a 'Black Man' anymore, it's now a chocolate nougat wafer! Have heard stories of offices not putting up xmas decorations in case they offend anyone. I think people (whoever decide on the P.C 'rules'!) are forgetting the saying 'When in Rome......' I am not rascist but my god in a few years the colour black will probably be banned! Its totally crazy.

Gone too far and still going...

...my current point of contention is the ACLU suing a private land owner for removal of a cross (which is a Hurricane Katrina memorial) because it's 'too close' to public land...

...that and the school curriculum instituted under Clinton which includes "pretend to be a muslim week"... (and why this doesn't violate separation of church and state, yet nativity scenes do is the biggest hypocrisy so far this century)

Kindergartners getting expelled from school for making their hands look like guns on the play ground.

I was once told that I was the best qualified applicant for the job, but they already had enough white employees so they had to hire someone else.

The Declaration of Independence was declared to religious to be read in one school district here in America.

A school was told that they could not do Dickens Christmas Carol. because of the words God Bless us everyone.

PC is wrong. This is a free country and we shouldn't restrict our language becuase of somebody's "feelings". In my high school, we were assigned to read a book of Toni Morrison. It was titled "Their eyes were watching God" but due to PC the teacher omitted the O from God in the syllabus she gave us before we were given the book. The title in the syllabus look like this: Their eyes were watching G-d. It wasn't permitted to mention or write anything related to God for fear it would intimidate people of other religions.
