With all of the contorvesy of Christmas, can we learn to be tolorent of each others differences. If you don't believe in Christmas & someone wishes you a merry one, is it acceptable to wish them well in your beliefs. Would a Happy Hanukah offend a Christan? Are you willing to see & respect others beliefs & still hold strong in yours?

I think the only people with the 'problem' are the hyper ones... hyper in the sense that they take offense to the enth level.

Most people should realize it's just once a year and so what if someone says "Merry Christmas".... best thing might be just to say "Back at Ya" or the nice and neutral "Happy Holidays" as previously stated.

I'd love to hear "Happy Hanukah" or any other belief's greeting... that's what makes living so interesting is all the differences (and similarities) of so many cultures worldwide... but I maintain as long as no one gets hurt in those cultures or as a result of that culture.
Personally, I love learning about other cultures and beliefs... I know what works for me and if someone is willing to share their views I always have an ear ready.

It would be rather pointless now to wish a Christian a Happy Hanukkah. It's a non-sequitur -- I'm observing a festival, so I'll wish you a good one even if it has nothing to do with your life.

That's why a lot of non-Christians don't care to be wished a Merry Christmas forty million times.

Instead of a one-size fits all Happy Holidays, how about taking the time to pay attention to the person and find out what they do, if anything, at this time of year. That's true respect.

I'm not really worried about offending them by wishing others a Merry Christmas. However, I don't want to deliberately leave them out. If I'm uncertain of what they are, I just go with a generic happy holidays.

I just say Merry Christmas. I don't care if someone were to wish me a Merry or Happy whatever it is they celebrate. The well wishes remain the same no matter what you believe in.

I think it is only the people who follow the middle eastern religions who take offense to being wished something their religion doesn't accept. Personally, I just dodge the whole issue by wishing everyone a "Happy Chrismahanakwanzayule".

As a heathen, I celebrate Yule. I don't take offense to someone wishing me well, however. No matter how they phrase it.

It would seem most loving and tolerant to do this. But evidently some people don't feel very loving or tolerant about others.

I think people need to stop being so tight arsed and PC about things.

there is only controversy because the "masters" want your attention diverted from the real issues of this planet.... like war, the watering down of you rights and all the rest
