The light isn't going to have much any effect, except that the goldish might sleep more, or bump into things, and any plants in the tank will die after a few weeks. Not doing anythng with the tank will ensure that your goldfish starves, or craps itself to death in about 1-5 weeks.

nothing would happen, i did that to my fish all the time because they lived in my room 24/7 and one of them lasted for 2 and a half years the only thing i've seen them do was swim faster when i turned the light off but then they stop

Same thing as when you have the light on....absolutely nothing. Goldfish are extremely lazy and stupid...you could say they're the cab drivers of the fish world.

Fish o to sleep when it gets cold in the water. No light would have caused it to get cold. If you didn't turn the light back on it would eventually die, but it would take a while.
