Help on Final Fantasy III for DS...?

I'm at the gnome part, and I have found the Copse fountain thing in the north woods, but I can not locate Tazus in the south woods AT ALL. I covered every single foot of it. What am I doing wrong? Also, is it in the lower part of the woods, higher or what?
