No but I do think it needs to be revived. Some of these "rappers" are crap, like Jeezy said "I do it from the heart homie they just rhyme". We need more rappers like Jeezy, Jay Z, Nas, Lil Wayne, TI. Im sorry but Im from Atlanta and all these new rappers are making a disgrace of the south. All they do is make up some stupid dance, and they are suddenly 'great' rappers. I cant stand Yung Joc his songs give me a headache and Diddy needs to sit his corny behind down somewhere. I bet you half of them cant freestyle to save their lives. But real talk these so called rappers need to step there game up b/c like you said hip hop isnt the same anymore

Hellz yeah, it's DEAD.

I'm a little older so I was around when Hip hop was being formed. Back in the late 80's and early 90's, there were a lot of rappers that rapped for only one reason. You couldn't get rich being a rapper. They didn't even play it on the radio. There were thiose that argued that it wasn't even really music. They still did it because they LOVED the art form. No other reason.

Nowadays, there are so many phony, fake formula rappers that it's tough to see any originality in it at all. I haven't bought a CD in over a year... probably 2. It all sounds the same. Money, girls, jewelry and cars. Go to the bank and collect your check. Is that all that there is? Is there anything original in hip hop anymore?

Hip Hop is DEAD... and we killed it.

Yes, in a short answer Hip Hop is Dead. Reason: Hip Hop really got big in the early 90's with the NWA, Snoop Dogg, Death Row Records era. This type of rap was incredible and it was real. These guys were pissed off and in gangs and it was right in the hype of the Rodney King event so it was uplifting for many Americans. Everything that has followed the talented rapping of acts like Tupac and Warren G have been very lackluster. They are just redundantly repeating the Gangsta Rap Death Row era that has been long gone for years now. You don't hear modern rock acts singing 80's type ballads do you? Hip Hop has lost its integrity, it is no longer heart felt but simply having the ability to make rhymes that mean absolutely nothing. NWA rapped about stuff that in their hearts they wanted to say. You can't say that about any clown out on the radio today. Who really cares how good your street cred is? 99% of you will work at McDonalds.

Hip-hop is not dead! do the radio and mtv get saturated with alot of crap yes, but as long as we have rappers like Nas,common, talib kweli, mos def, even Jay-z there will still be some type of real hip-hop left.

like Common said they say hip-hop is dead I am here to resurrect me.
