Try this it worked for me. Plus its fast.
1. Click the start menu
2. Click Run
3. Type in msconfig and press "OK"
4. Click on Services top right, next to start up.
5. Click on "Hide all Microsoft Services" (Programs needed to run windows)
6. Click on "Disable all"
7. Now click on Startup (top right)
8. Disable All(Disabling all Stupid programs not needed to run windows.
9. Click Apply then close.
10. It will ask you to restart for changes to take effect. "RESTART" You will notice the difference as it boots. If no Difference. More than likely Hardware issues.

Hello, Sorry to hear about your PC- Have you run a virus scan on it like AVG? It sounds like the telltale signs of a virus or worm. You shouldn't have to uninstall a browser- have you tried clearing your cache out? In Internet Options, click on delete, and clear the temporary internet files and cookies. This may help a bit with the speed, but it sounds like yours is more Virus-related. This is NOT the end of the world though- make sure you have a good virus scanner that is UP TO DATE (if you have a version of avg that is 1 month old and the the virus on your PC is a week old, it won't find it in the database). I would also recommend asking around some of your more PC-savvy friends to see what they can do by looking at it for you... Also, make sure you have the most up to date Adobe Flash Player. I have also heard from people that IE 9 is a little "buggy"- Maybe you could retro-install 8? Did you get any particular error messages? These are often very helpful when troubleshooting PC issues. As far as a program like "Double my speed" I would be wary of those types. Another option would be to take it to a store like Micro Center or Best Buy and have them fix it, but a PC Geek from the neighborhood might be cheaper...Good luck, I hope this helps!

Several things can slow down the machine.
The most common problems are things like fragmented page files and lack of memory.
The most common fix is adding RAM to the system and not havig a larger then needed page file. Also, a fixed size pagefile is better then a dynamic because static is often faster.

You'd want to compare your memory in your new system to the old one. Even an new out of the box system can have less memory than an old computer depending on the original purchase and any upgrades that have been made.
If less memory is not the issue, contact support if it is still under warranty, you could have a problem with the system hardware.

Now we all like to believe that all men and women are created equally, but when it comes to computers, that is not the case... Maybe its just slow? reinstall windows and see how it is then..
