Are there any unusual forms of death penalty in your state? I heard that Utah still has the shooting gallery, is this true?

Its called firing squad. A shooting gallery is the carnival game where you shoot at the targets to win a prize.

The U.S. has only a few legal forms of execution, hanging, firing squad, gas chamber, electric chair, and lethal injection.

A couple of times in history, some places have experimented, but I do not think that any of those implemented. Before the electric chair, some people recommended that New York use the guillotine. There are also times when vigilantes used some gruesome forms of execution such as dragging or immolation.

I have heard of a new type that some people are calling for. A nitrogen chamber. Basically, it is a gas chamber that uses nitrogen instead of cyanide. The person goes thru nitrogen narcosis before passing out and then suffocates. Supposedly it is more humane than anything thought up so far. I cannot verify that it is because I have never tried it.

Utah inmates have the option of firing squad if they choose and if they were convicted before that method was outlawed. See below.
