why do they call them white trash?

Im curious about where the term white trash came from and why they are called that? If they are trash what does it make other whites?

The term White Trash today is mostly used by well of whites to describe poorer or less educated white people. Some people just have a need to put down others.

However some whites have embraced the term white trash the same way some black people embrace the N word.

I think it originated during the slavery era. Some white people were even poorer or worse off than some well-treated house slaves, and therefore lower down on the social ladder.

These particular people were "trash" because they were deemed as no use to society - they did not have wealth, good breeding, good manners, culture, or even much property. They were of no value to the society at large.

Anyway, it's usually called "trailor trash". White people are supposed to be rich, beautiful and in charge of everything. Black people are suppossed to be living in ghettos. Or at least, that's what racists think. If you were actually a WHITE person and living poorly(even if not in a ghetto) you are called "trash".

I guess it would make the other whites not poor, or at least not obviously fitting into the stereotype.

i do no longer think of people reason different persons to grow to be the way they are. i think of there are particular personalities who're greater prepared to alter their habit to grow to be greater often happening or bigger up in social score then others. This woman chosen to grow to be who she is. As for if it quite is right to call her white trash...eh, I draw back from making ethical judgments (morality is so subjective). i will understand the place the guy who noted as her white trash is coming from, yet on the different hand this woman is in basic terms a made of her upbringing. it quite is basically an unlucky undertaking.

White trash refers to poor white people who usually live in trailer parks, drink beer and never clean up their yard. I have no idea where it originated other than maybe someone like Jeff Foxworthy using it as part of their comedy act.
