there is really nothing you can do to imrove your bandwith other than upgrading your service. there is tweaks out there to make a slight improvment. here is a good tweak to remove the 20% reserved bandwith for qos. http://blogbyrichie.blogspot.com/2006/06/boosting-your-internet-bandwith.html

Get a higher speed ISP... That is pretty much the only way, unless you are talking about straight over a network and in that case get a Gb router, Gb NIC, and some cat6e..

If you are using wireless then try an ethernet cable. They can make a big difference to some(me for one, much faster than my wireless).

try to get a bettr internet service. or try to get a pop up blocker so that ads dont load and steal your banwidth
