Everyone loves surprises. Give your friend something you know he loves a lot. A drink with friends at his favourite pub, or to see a sports event with you and some other friends. You could also stay at home with friends. A chat and companionship can make someone very happy

If he drinks then alcholol is a good gift. Wine, whiskey, vodka, etc... Do you know his favorite movie? A DVD or CD is cool. What about a Maxim calendar or if he is into art then a nice print for his home. If he eats healthy then a food or fruit basket is cool. Joke gifts are always an option also.

If he's anything like me on birthdays then he won't want anything from anyone because he buys his own stuff. Stuff that he likes!

I hate people buying me presents because they're usually crap and it saves me having to offend the person when I dump their present straight in the bin in front of them.

Just give him 20 quid and say, "Here, get yourself something with this, mate."

Maybe, surprise him (if you want to spend the money) with a nice watch, or don't give him anything, accept maybe a card, at least so you can show a little appreciation for him.

Nothing. Sometimes, just listening to what he's asking for is enough.

Unless he likes head games and wants you to read his mind.
