which states that a person must yeild the right of way to pedistrians... or something along those lines... Thanks!

If it's anything like the USA, each province or territory has it's own laws. Most US states require traffic to yield to pedestrians except if the traffic has a green through (not turning) traffic light.

I've stopped traffic in Los Angeles just by looking across the street. I'm talking about major streets with 3 lanes in each direction. I had to wave them on.
