Last spring I called Family Services on my Sister Inlaws ex husband because I knew for a fact that he was molesting his 3 kids. And know the 3 kids are acting out sexualy with each other and get this, they are just under 6 years old. So, my sister inlaw told me all that was happening and so I had no choice but to call and turn him in. So I did. Because the kids didn't say that it was happening, they have no proof that it was. So nothing happened. The kids still go over to his house and are still being molested. The mom NEVER bathes the kids, never has them in clean clothes. The 5 year old little girl has a Urinary Tracked Infection and their mom won't take her to the doctor. It just makes me sick! I don't know what to do because I hate seeing these kids in this type of environment. I saw the kids at the store the other night and they looked like homeless children. They smelled real bad and their clothes were so dirty. What should I do? Should I call DCFS again? Please help

Yes, please call DCF again. I have to disagree with the last post; DCF is NOT required to investigate every report that comes in. We screen and will only investigate when there is solid evidence of abuse or neglect (for example, a bruise that looks like a hand print or a neighbor who calls in to say that the parents are passed out on the floor from drugs and their 2 year old is walking the streets a 10 PM). Sometimes it takes several reports before an investigation is commenced. Are the kids in school? I would call the school too and mention my concerns and ask that they keep an eye out on how they are showing up (dirty, lacking sleep, bruises, etc). The school staff are mandatory reporters so they have to report to DCF if they suspect abuse. Like I said previously, the more information they get, the more likely they will investigate. Also, mention that the child has an infection and the parents will not take the child to get proper medical care (sounds like a form of medical neglect).

Please, please, please don't give up. You are the only voice that these children have.

If you keep reporting and nothing is happening, write a letter to the commissioner's office (or even call). You will defiantly get heard then.

You, if no one else should keep making the reports. Make every effort to speak to a supervisor and get someone's attention. Those children are trained to know what to say, and how to act when asked questions. Regardless, someone needs to help these children. I can only imagine what these kids are going through on a daily basis. They are being abused by the mother and the father. It is the responsibility of DFCS to investigate every call. Keep calling until you know those kids are safe.
