I'm hearing two things: she is and she isn't. What's the financial deal?

It's either her, the queen, or Paul McCartney. She's definitely no lower than 3rd on the list.

JK Rowling is the richest woman in terms of cash.
The Queen is the richest landowner in England so there is a difference.
Sir Paul McCartney is somewhere in the top three but I'm not sure where he falls exactly.

I believe she surpassed the queen when Half Blood Prince came out. It's close, but she's got the edge. The Queen, though, has divested some of her fortune in recent years by taking certain royal relatives off the public support and paying them herself. Most of these people were royal cousins who were entitled to some support from the public. A reform is in the works.

the queen does not have more money. she only gets money from people paying taxes.
