Maurice (1987). Fairly serious drama about a Cambridge (or Oxford) student in Edwardian England coming to terms with his sexuality.
Gods and Monsters (1998). Moving drama with Ian McKellen as the gay film director James Whale (Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein etc).
Edge of Seventeen (1998). Like an '80s teen movie, but gay. Sweet, comedic.

You aren't going to find many horror movies with homosexuality involved (though Sharon Stone's character is bisexual in Basic Instinct). If you want a thriller involving lesbians, try Bound. There are plenty of dark twisted dramas involving homosexuals. Try: High Art Monster Boys Don't Cry Aimee and Jaguar Fire Tipping The Velvet By the way, all the movies mentioned above are AWESOME.

The French film _Ma Vie en Rose_ is just heart-rending and will make you cry. (It has English subheadings.) It's about a little boy who thinks he's a girl, likes to dress up as a girl, and wants to marry one of his male friends (they have a pretend marriage ceremony), but the town is so intolerant that his father gets fired and his family is forced to move. By the end, the little boy has become utterly alienated from everyone - especially his family - in his bitterness. It's a terribly good movie. So sad.

Oh, and Oscar Wilde was gay. There's a biographical movie called _Wilde_ that I want to see but haven't yet.

There was a foreign film (from Taiwan) directed by Ang Lee called "The Wedding Banquet" (Hsi Yen)
The language is both Chinese (w/subtitles) and English, and the story actually occurs in America. I found it to be very entertaining.

You HAVE to get the movie Get Real (its a British gay movie, great story) and Latter Days, which is one of my favorites, another great story. A great place to look for movies like this is www.logoonline.com. I was never into gay movies or shows until our cable provider added that channel. Out of curiosity I checked it out and got hooked. That website will list a ton of movies that you can check out!

Here's one you probably don't expect.
Nightmare On Elm St. 2
It's not out in the open, but it's obvious that the film is dealing with homosexuality as a theme. Really, check out some of the dialogue and symbolism.
