It is very true that the Soviet invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and the American intervention in Iraq have many parallels. Both were unpopular wars that brought shame on their countries. The Afghanistan war brought down the Soviet Union itself. The Iraq war caused the removal of the Republicans from both houses of Congress, and has plummetted Bush's approval rating to an historic low of 30%.

Because the Republicans make non-effective Nazis, but they are very skilled fascists and live the lives of "follow the leader" no matter how illogical their leader is.
