No just at Christmas, but all year around. Gas is at $2.60 p/g, sure the $2.00+ delivery charge it on the receipt but alot of times the driver only gets a portion of that. A good tip for a Pizza Delivery person is about $3.00 (No including the change).
If you think thats excessive get up off you fat lazy a** and pick your food up!

This guy really makes a great pizza BUT he charges a buck for delivery which he keeps. He's the owner. However the driver I tip $2 whether bill is $12 or $20. I still tip because it's still a service it being delivered to my house.

People don't like to tip because they're already paying for the merchandise. They see $10 for a pizza on the menu, for example. When they ask to have it delivered, there is a $3 delivery charge, so the $10 pizza becomes a $13 pizza. So you want another $3 for said pizza, and a $10 pizza ends up being $16. And on a busy night, it can take and hour or more to even get the pizza delivered.
People don't want to tip because they feel your employer should be paying you your wage, not them. And I happen to agree. I wanted to kill the next person who expected a tip from me on trips to NYC and Florida.
I don't have pizza delivered--I go pick it up. So, if you want an actual hourly wage and don't want to leave your financial future up to some cheap ***, get a different job. You don't want to be a pizza guy forever.

I usually tip so long as I receive my food in a timely manner...however the delivery person decided to take on that job and at least at the major chains they seem to make a decent hourly wage...regardless no one puts a gun to someone's head to make them deliver pizzas and hope for tips...get another job if the tips aren't great!

My philosophy? If you CANNOT AFFORD TO TIP then, Don't go out to dinner or order delivery. Go to the grocery store!! Nobody wants to work for free for you cheap sob's!!!
