Same reason we don't like the French. Arrogance, greed, ignorance, and more arrogance.

Because:

a) the French are only in love with themselves.

b) France used to be the world darling in culture, fashion, language, etc. Now that they've been displaced by Americans, they're pissed.

c) America was a British colony and the Brits and French have had bad blood for centuries. By proxy, their hatred of the Brits carries over to America.

There are nice French people though. Some of them do like Americans. I met at least one French person who doesn't have any problems with Americans in Europe.

According to conversations I've had with my French boyfriend, it's because Americans are very "macho," which they see as arrogant while the French are very "open" which we tend to see as "sissy."

Because American saved them twice from German dictators in WWI and WWII and they're embarrassed that they can't defend themselves.

We neither know nor care!
