Remember the "ice age"? Before one occurs there is a steep increase in usual temperatures, much higher than usual. That's a big part of the process of Global Warming, except that one occurred not as a result of pollution. The one so discussed now is blamed on humans and our pollution.

To avoid getting too overly complex or long about this, just recall the movie "The Day After Tomorrow". That film was supposed to cover the consequences of global warming: another ice age.

However, even without an ice age occurring, sometimes the earth goes through periods of significantly high temperatures, and then cools down again. This is just a part of the earth being itself, a living and dynamic planet, and these temperature fluxes happen in certain sizes

Some people do not believe in Global Warming because they believe we are just experiencing one of these earthly phases, and that the earth will naturally cool soon.

And yes, there is alot of logic and reasoning behind this check out:

Also, because there is no consensus amongst scientists about the issue. Sadly, many people have been led to believe that an overwhelming consensus of scientists believe in global warming. Scientists agree we're polluting, but whether it is "global warming" is debatable. These people are professionals who know what they are talking about, and they've got solid statistics. People who dedicate their lives to science are by no means fools.

Although I personally believe there's a serious issue at hand, global warming or not, that is being caused by our pollution, many people are torn between the earth's natural phases and mixed messages from our leading scientists. I know incredibly intellectual people who do not believe, and I feel we should hear them out, since they might have something valuable or insightful to share with us on the issue.

In light of the media and all we've heard, it may be easy to shut out some scientists, but don't. It's those that take the time to research and hear out all sides who are the best informed. Be a little skeptical. Don't trust everything you hear, find out for yourself.

Because they are igonrant to facts. If it wasn't for Global Warming we would still be in Pliestocene glaciation. At the end of the Pliestocene, some 11,000 years ago, glaciers covered North America down to Wisconsin. Global Warming has eliminated that ice.

I like all these answers so far, it's a great question.
My opinion is that Earth goes through these slow ups and downs in temperature. If you study historical geology, you might come across some references regarding the theoretical sea levels on earth through geologic time. Sea level is thought to be an indication of the earth's temerature. ie when it's warmer, the polar ice melts and sea levels rise. When it's cooler, the polar areas ice sheets and glaciers grow, lowering sea level. if one were to plot the sea level through geologic time, one would notice that we are currently at a low on sea level...leaving one to assume that we should be warming up soon. This is a conclusion that can be reached, without considering man's impact on the environment. It's my opinion that someone a few years back figured all this out, then used this knowledge to exploit environmentalists and anyone who would go along for the environmental ride....I am sure someone made a heck of a lot of money out of this.

My name is Rafael Lomena. I write from Alicante (Spain). I am independent investigator on the Accelerated Global Heating and want to share with all something that can turn out from interest to fight this phenomenon.
I believe that the main cause of the Accelerated Global Heating is in the great and increasing forest fires that are whipping to the planet in the last years.
My complete report is in: http://inicia.es/de/rlv/clim.htm...
If they do not understand the Spanish they can use the automatic translator that will find in the main page of site:

The climate will change. It always has. It's just very poor science to blame CO2, when it only contributes such a small percentage to the greenhouse effect. Water vapour is responsible for 95% of the green house effect and of the other 5%, CO2 only contributes 3.5%. There are other far more important factors that are affecting the planet and causing climate change.

Perhaps too many Liberals have cried 'Wolf' one too many times. Global warming, global winter, overstated pollution panic, out of oil, the list goes on. It gets tiresome after awhile.

Why is it that because the media or Al Gore says it's happening that the sheep seem to believe it? Do a little research.

I have no idea, but my father-in-law is one of them and he's a pretty smart guy....I don't get where's he's coming from. And he can't really explain why he thinks that, he just says that it's not happening.
