You can't tell the speed by the heart beat.

A normal fetal heart rate usually is between 120 and 160 beats per minute. While rumors abound, the truth is there is no difference between girls' and boys' rates, so knowing if the heart beat is fast or slow can't help you to choose baby clothes or room decor. The loudness or quietness of the heartbeat also doesn't mean anything. The sound has to do only with the volume controls on the instrument, as well as the distance and angle from the heart to the Doppler. So don't worry if it sounds quiet or far away sometimes.

Nope!! I am 26 weeks pregnant with a boy, his heartrate is 150. Generally they "say" a girls heartbeat is faster then a boys...but i have known so many people who have had boys with fast heart rates and girls with slow. You will know around 20 weeks or so for the ultrasound though!! They are neat too. Congrats and merry christmas!

Old wives tale that the higher the heartbeat that it is a girl, but it was the opposite for me. My son's heartbeat was always between 155-160 and my daughter's was between 140-150

I have all boys. All of their heart beats were in the 140's. This is by no means fool-proof, there is actually some degree of accuracy! Sounds like a boy to me!
(Girls heart beats are usually faster)
So what are you hoping for?

I think boy, too. My son's heart rate was always in the 130s - 140s, and my daughter's was in the 160s.

it's supposed to be that high, i'm pretty well due now and this one has fluctuated between 135-155 up and down week to week. the heart rate thing and sex of the baby is just an old wives tale.

The heart rate does not determine the sex of the baby. Sorry. Wait until 24 weeks for the ultrasound. Good luck.

Don't count on it. I've been talking with my doctor, and doing some research on it. My son's heart rate was 142, my daughters was 147, and this ones is 145.
