It really depends on these things:
1. where you live
2. what time of day
3. how formal the party is
If you live in a chilly area, here are my suggestions:
Time: late afternoon. wear a warm colored skirt, (brown is ok!), with a cool color matching top. Go easy on jewelry
Time: 6:00 p.m. or later. wear long skirt with long sleeve top, long necklace and chandelier earrings.
Time: 7:30 or later. Wear a dark color dress, ( anywhere from red to black) heals, and clutch purse.
If you live in the warmer area change the outfits to shorter cuts, EXCEPT skirt length.
I live in Michigan, so it is rather chilly. Hope this has helped.

It really depends on the person.
If you're a little on the young side (teens-late twenties) I would wear a cute, silky dress in a light gold color, with a breathable cardigan or flashy caplet. Top it of with brown fishnets for a better look; black fishnets tend to be harsh, like Betty Paige.
If you're older (thirties to late forties) a high waisted, black pencil skirt with a silky dess top is always classic. Again, fishnets are ace, but, in this case, black works just fine. Top it off with a bold red lip and black pumps for a "Bam! I've arrived!" look.
If you're older than that, nice, NON-pleated dress pants with stylish boots and a good, silky top will make you look absolutely dazzling! make the top a real standout color, like teal or green.
And remember, smiling makes you look ten times better!

Either will be just fine, a nice skirt and a fancy blouse or sweater will go great or a dress, whatever suits your fancy do it or how dressy or casual the party is.

it all depends how old you are. if you are going to a sort of older people's party, you should wear a skirt. if you are 26 or younger, wear a dress(pretty and with a bit of clevage) and nice high heeled shoes.

wear a dress. its more formal and makes it look like u put a little more effort into it. itll also bring u more attention so maybe you can catch a hot guy under the mistletoe

FYI, guys don't know the difference.
I'm thinking red pumps, flesh tone nylons, a red velvet skirt, white sweater, with a mistletoe broche.

If I were a single guy and you wanted me to be interested in you, I would say a skirt, if you have nice legs. "Nothing beats a great pair of legs."
