as a friend only in a sort of plantonic friendship is it acceptable?

I have quite a few men as friends at it has never been a problem to me, or my bloke, or their gfs / wives. But you need to make the boundaries clear and make sure it's purely friendship.

only if you are also willing to be a friend to his wife too - and of course it is strictly platonic on his behalf too.

the danger is, if he is confiding thoughts to you (about how he truely feels about his life/relationship/concerns), then he has crossed a line. these things should be discussed with his wife.

if you have any doubts about this friendship then stay away. if you feel uncomfortable about things you discuss then stay away. the fact you are asking suggests you may have some doubt about this friendship.

ask him and his wife out for drinks. his reaction should reveal his feelings. if you are not a secret to his wife then there should not be any problem, but if you are somehow (unwittingly) filling a void in his life then i doubt he would take you up on the offer.

good luck and tread carefully!

Have you met his wife yet? Does your married friend plan to introduce you to his wife?

I think if the answer to these questions is yes, then it is possible.

But if he hasn't, or has no plans to, & you find yourself attracted to him, then you could find yourself very quickly having an affair with this man.

Then you have to be prepared for the consequences of your actions.

Minimoto is right - don't let it get too close.

If either of you is lying about any aspect of the friendship to his wife, then it needs to stop.

As long as its just a friendship. but if his wife doesn't know about you then i wud remain at arms length. but as someone else has sed, it he is confiding in you instead of his wife then i wud question what it is he wants from you.
