It's not necessarily about age, there's lots of different types of museums that collect a variety of objects based on similarities between them--not just age. Natural history museums usually collect various types of specimens to put on display; it doesn't matter how old they are just that they are interesting and fit within the context of what the museum is trying to display.
There are car museums, war museums, 1950s museums; where I used to live there was even an oil museum that had different exhibits showing how they got oil out of the ground.
When people think of museums they think of stuffy old places full of dinosaur bones and strange art, but in fact there are many different types of museums offering exhibits on everything from the ancient to the modern.

The dictionary defines a museum as "a building, place, or institution devoted to the acquisition, conservation, study, exhibition, and educational interpretation of objects having scientific, historical, or artistic value."
There are no age limits - it is the importance of the object that determines whether it merits a place or not.
