Fairies are real they just are seen much because not many people believe in them. The are part of a group called the underlings. These are creatures that used to exist, but faded away because people forgot about them, they wanted to. They were hunted down like all the Bigfoots were, they were just wished away probably because no one understood them and, thus, they wouldn't fit in the society we were trying to create. Still you do know fairies are evil, right?

There are many people in Ireland, especially in small towns or wooded areas that will argue with you until they are blue in the face that fairies exist and that they have seen them.

I just learned that fairies are the people of the Tuatha Dé Danaan (Tribe of Dana), who were driven into the ground to become fairies by the christians. The Tribe of Dana was considered to be one of the most beautiful peoples to walk the earth.
Ofcourse this is Fairy Wicca lore.

Personally, I don't, but there are some people who seriously think so. Nicholas de Vere believes so. He claims that fairies are actually a persecuted race of superhuman vampires. Well,
From my perspective (eclectic, Buddhist, mad) Fairies, and much more are quite a bit more real than most people imagine.
They certainly are as "real" as human beings.
I guess the short answer is "yes"...
