I know of somebody that is 50 and has a four year old. I don't think that having a baby at 35 is too old! I think that you are able to enjoy them more when you are 35. As long as your sister's husband is in good health. You want to be able to watch the child grow up. Not only that once they do have a baby they will enjoy being parents.

No. I had my first kid when I was 41. That's older than I would have liked, but 35 is fine. 53 is not that old. It's not like he'll be using a walker by then. Most 53 year old men are in fine shape.

According to a recent study I just read, since 1990 the number of men in their 40's having children increased 15%, and in their 50's, 20%. Social "norms" have changed dramatically over the years, and what was once taboo is now quite commonplace. We are living healthier, longer lives than ever before. Actor Michael Douglas, who had a son at age 59, said in an a recent interview that the joy and happiness he has from his children has been the best experience of his life. He has the time and energy to devote to his children now that he missed(with his now grown children )in his younger years. I think as long as children get the love and devotion of their parents, it doesn't matter how old you are when you have them.

No, 35 isn't to old to have a child, 35 is really not that old, I seen in the paper where 83 yr. old man had triplets with a younger wife. Well, that is a little to old, but times have changed I see 40 year old women having babies all the time.

I have a friend whos parents were both around 60-65 when he graduated from high school.

In my opinion, as long as he's able to have kids, has the love and paitence it takes to raise one, and is responsible enough to handle it, age doesn't really matter.

(and in all actuallity, 53 isn't that old, my dad was 49 when I graduated high school)

Let me put it this way:

If she changes her mind a year from now, the kid will graduate high school when his dad is 54! There's no time like the present.

Besides, 53 actually sounds young to me.

No men can fertilize woman into their 60's and probably beyond. Besides 53 is not all that old in todays world were the average longevity is 78

For heaven's sake. Of course 35 is not too old! So what if her hubby will be 53? Does she think that's OLD? Good gracious.

35 is not too old. I'm 24 and my husband is 46 and were going to try to get pregnant in the new year. 35 is not too old at all.

No way!!! Men should not even consider having children until they are 35. That is why there are so many dead-beat dads out there. They have them when they are too young to handle the responsibility and run.
