The sub sonic frequencies the Navy uses for sonar are supposed to be driving dolphins to beach themselves and whales to get lost. I would think a deterrent smell would work better as it wouldn't depend on bulky electronics, sharks seem pretty tough and would probably ignore an annoying noise if they smelt food.

lol, good question, i don't know an actual scientific answer but i can say this. as far as i know, sharks have no vocal chords and do not communicate with sound: therefore they have no way of making a grunt. as far as any sound at all, that could fall into the category of "if a tree falls in the woods, and no one's around, is it loud?" water doesn't carry sound waves well at all, so more than likely (and i say that because i presented no scientific evedence) no, they make no sound

Most of it is from water getting kicked up and tail hitting the water, tearing of the prey.........
