After downloaded a software from the Internet from a trusted website, my HP laptop is not working. I can see the icons, when you click on it, nothing happened. I called the HP support and a Rep worked with me more than 2 hours and we still couldn't get it fixed. Anybody has any idea? I have saved all my digital pictures in My Document. Need to retrieve them.

I called the company which I downladed software from and they told me that they have never had this problem and I know another friend also has downloaded without problem.

Uninstall the program.
You can boot up in Safe mode and go to My computer, click on add/remove programs and uninstall the program, Then reboot in reg mode and see if that works, if you can't get it up then, call GEEK SQUAD at Best Buy, then install a good antispyware program and antivirius. You can also use System recovery to take you back in time before you had a problem.
Any website can be hijacked.

When using Add or Remove Programs in safe mode did not solve the problem, then you must be logged on as an administrator and restores all system and application settings back to those that were in effect at a point in time you specify.
As a result, any changes the program has made to your system are undone. It's available on Windows XP.

Boot in safe mode..... When te computer is starting keep pressing F8 this will give you a prompt... safe mode with networking all that, you can just do safe mode it'll work fine then log in as usual and then uninstall the programs by going to add/remove programs.......
